However, we suggest that you first bring the issue to the attention of the teacher in a manner that is appropriate, courteous, and respectful. This privilege applies only to students who have enrolled during the first seven weeks of the semester.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours before their lesson will be marked as \u201clate canceled\u201d and will <\/span><b>NOT <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eligible for a makeup credit<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For all teacher absences due to professional obligations, teacher illness, or emergencies, students will receive a makeup credit made up by arrangement between the teacher and the student.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If WCM closes due to inclement weather, all missed lessons and classes will be rescheduled.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WCM\u2019s<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/enroll\/calendar\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">academic calendar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> includes scheduled makeup days for each teaching day of the week. Makeup lessons may also be given on a day other than the student\u2019s regular lesson day, if the teacher is available.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once agreed upon, makeup lesson times cannot be rescheduled. Students who arrive late for instruction cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. Students should notify their teacher and the WCM office via <\/span><a href=\"mailto:info@washingtonconservatory.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">info@washingtonconservatory.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of any absences in advance. Notification does not exempt students from payment as contracted.\u00a0<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One missed lesson per semester may be made up only if students report the absence to the WCM office 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. This payment option incurs a 2% service charge.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is a full list of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/enroll\/tuition-and-fees\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tuition and fees<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><h6><b>Semester Registration and Payment<\/b><\/h6><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each new student should complete the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/enroll\/student-inquiry-form\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student Inquiry Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and each returning student should complete the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/enroll\/returning-student-registration\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Returning Student Registration Form.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Students must submit the $35 registration fee and tuition payment (by check or credit card) before participating in the first scheduled lesson with individual teachers or ensembles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>Withdrawal, Refunds<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who enroll in individual lessons during the academic year are entitled to a <\/span><b><i>three-week assessment period<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, during which they can request a prorated tuition refund, minus the non-refundable registration fee. Students are eligible for a prorated refund only if they notify their teacher and the WCM office no later than one day after their third scheduled lesson. <\/span><b>Refunds will not be issued if requested more than one day after the third lesson.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For students enrolled in the monthly payment plan: if you choose to pause or discontinue lessons, your subscription will be canceled for the following months. Please note that payments for the current month are <\/span><b>non-refundable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and any remaining scheduled lessons within that month <\/span><b>will not be<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> credited or refunded.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Late Payments<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who repeatedly make late payments may be denied placement with a teacher for the following semester or academic year. Autopay is available for the monthly payment plan. There is a $25 delinquent account service charge for late payments.<\/span><\/p><h6><b>Additional Lessons Between Semesters<\/b><\/h6><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current students who do not require makeup lessons for the fall semester may register for additional lessons between the fall and spring semesters. These lessons must be prepaid.<\/span><\/p><h6><b>Summer Lessons<\/b><\/h6><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the summer, new students must enroll in a minimum of four individual lessons. All lessons must be prepaid. Scheduling lessons for consecutive weeks is recommended but not required. Some teachers are not available throughout the summer. Summer lessons missed because of student absence are not made up. The scholarship was created in memory of Dr. Patterson (1954\u20132006), a member of Washington Conservatory of Music\u2019s faculty and co-founder of the Congressional Chorus. A talented chamber musician and solo pianist, Dr. Patterson was also an esteemed teacher, vocal coach, and conductor. This scholarship is made possible by tax-deductible donations. Checks may be made payable to the \u201cMichael Patterson Scholarship Fund\u201d and mailed to Washington Conservatory of Music, One Westmoreland Circle, Bethesda, MD 20816. This privilege applies only to students who have enrolled during the first seven weeks of the semester.<\/li><li>All teacher absences due to professional obligations, teacher illness, or emergencies will be made up by arrangement between teacher and student.<\/li><li>If WCM closes due to inclement weather, all missed lessons and classes will be rescheduled.<\/li><li>WCM&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/enroll\/calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">academic calendar<\/a> includes scheduled makeup days for each teaching day of the week. Makeup lessons may also be given on a day other than the student&#8217;s regular lesson day, if the teacher is available.<\/li><li>Once agreed upon, makeup lesson times cannot be rescheduled. In the rare event that a lesson time cannot be scheduled, tuition is refunded.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Split Semester Payment Plan (Single Semester Tuition in Two Payments)<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Under this plan, students may pay half of single semester tuition before lessons begin. The balance must be paid by November 1 for the fall semester, or April 1 for the spring semester. There is a fee of $25 per semester per student, or $40 per semester per family, for split payments. This fee, together with the registration fee, must be paid with the first payment. The plan requires payment by credit card, and your card will be charged automatically for the second payment. If a student paying according to this plan withdraws after the first three weeks of the semester, the entire semester payment remains due in full. This plan does not apply to classes\/ensembles. A history of untimely payments disqualifies students from the plan.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Withdrawal, Refunds<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Students who enroll in individual lessons during the academic year are entitled to a <em><strong>three-week assessment period<\/strong><\/em>, during which they can request a prorated tuition refund, minus the non-refundable registration fee. Students are eligible for a prorated refund only if they notify their teacher and the WCM office no later than one day after their third scheduled lesson. Refunds will not be issued if requested more than one day after the third lesson.\u00a0 New students enrolling in summer lessons will not receive a refund if they withdraw.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Late Payments<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Students who repeatedly make late payments may be denied placement with a teacher for the following semester or academic year. There is a $50 delinquent account service charge for late payments of second semester tuition or late payments under the Split Semester Payment Plan.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Spring Semester Payment<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Students are responsible for paying spring semester tuition unless they notify the WCM office (in addition to their teacher) of their decision to withdraw prior to January 8. Failure to pay by the due date can result in students losing their place in their teacher\u2019s schedule and the assessment of a $50 delinquent account service charge.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Additional Lessons Between Semesters<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Current students who do not require makeup lessons for the fall semester may register for additional lessons between the fall and spring semesters.\u00a0 These days are marked on the lesson calendar as &#8220;optional lesson days&#8221;.\u00a0 These lessons must be prepaid.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Summer Lessons<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">During the summer, new students must enroll in a minimum of four individual lessons. All lessons must be prepaid. Scheduling lessons for consecutive weeks is recommended but not required. For current students, summer session begins when the semester is over; for new students, summer session begins June 1, as space is available. Some teachers are not available throughout the summer. Summer lessons missed because of student absence are not made up. Students enrolling in summer lessons will not receive a refund if they withdraw.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Scholarships<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Please see <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/enroll\/policies\/#1507368891014-6f8902ba-2098\">Scholarships<\/a>\u00a0below for more information.<\/p><hr \/><h6><strong>GROUP CLASSES, ENSEMBLES &amp; SEMINARS<\/strong><\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Group classes, ensembles, and seminars at Glen Echo Park are subject to the <a href=\"https:\/\/glenechopark.org\/registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/glenechopark.org\/registration-policies-procedures&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1583624442816000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGP1tsUcgfBXBfltL5Tcg_4hUJfVw\">payment policies of Glen Echo Park.<\/a> Payment must be paid in full before students may attend group classes, ensembles, or seminars.<\/p><h6 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Cancelation, Withdrawal, Refunds<\/h6><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">If any group class, ensemble, or seminar has insufficient enrollment, WCM reserves the right to cancel it and will refund all tuition and fees. WCM will not issue refunds to students who miss a session or a rescheduled session of a group class, ensemble, or seminar.<\/p><p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Scholarships&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;scholarships&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1587683690719{margin-left: 28px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p><div><h6>WCM Scholarship Fund<\/h6><p>WCM offers a limited number of scholarships for students up to age 18 of limited financial means who demonstrate commitment to musical study. To be considered, students must submit an application with a copy of their most recent federal tax return or equivalent. Timely receipt of completed application does not guarantee a scholarship.<\/p><h6>The Michael Patterson Memorial Scholarship Fund<\/h6><p>The Michael Patterson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students up to age 18 of significant financial need for the purpose of studying piano or voice. The scholarship was created in memory of Dr. Patterson (1954\u20132006), a member of Washington Conservatory of Music&#8217;s faculty and co-founder of the Congressional Chorus. A talented chamber musician and solo pianist, Dr. Patterson was also an esteemed teacher, vocal coach, and conductor. This scholarship is made possible by tax-deductible donations. Checks may be made payable to the \u201cMichael Patterson Scholarship Fund\u201d and mailed to Washington Conservatory of Music, One Westmoreland Circle, Bethesda, MD 20816. The fund also accepts <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/donate\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/donate\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1583624442816000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEkp9216U4C0B0MfTyo1lh9zdpNFA\">online donations.<\/a><\/p><h6>The Marinus and Minna B. Koster Foundation<\/a> provides a merit-based scholarship awarded to talented young students through an audition process.<\/p><h6>The Gertrude Delfino Scholarship Fund<\/h6><p>The Gertrude Delfino Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/outreach\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/washingtonconservatory.org\/outreach\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1583624442816000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFVet-e5FLkk43ULU2iiIMIQkPIGA\">Tapestry Music Project.<\/a><\/p><p><em>Loss of scholarship may occur at any time due to frequent absences; lack of progress, participation, or commitment; or inappropriate behavior of students or parents.<\/em><\/p><\/div><p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Liability&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;liability&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<em>Effective August 1, 2024<\/em><\/p><p>LIMITATION OF LIABILITY<\/p><p>As consideration for your ability to participate in a WCM program, WCM\u2019s liability to you hereunder shall be limited to the total amount you have actually paid to WCM for the applicable program. Except as set out herein, WCM shall under no circumstances be liable to you, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, for any indirect or consequential loss arising hereunder or in connection with the program provided by WCM, including WCM having no liability for a loss caused by WCM\u2019s own negligence. Nothing in this Agreement shall operate to limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by gross negligence. For the avoidance of doubt, WCM shall not be liable for any loss or termination hereunder resulting from or arising in connection with any student visa status or other reason related to immigration matters.
