Catie Brooks<\/strong> is a versatile vocalist, voice teacher, stage director, and actor based in Washington, D.C. With a background as a former opera singer and current musical theater performer, Catie seamlessly navigates both classical and contemporary vocal styles, making her a sought-after “crossover” artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She holds a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Music Theatre from James Madison University and has studied with renowned voice teachers Danielle Talamantes, Sarah Bishop, Ashley Alden, Carrie Stevens, and most recently, Linda Tomkinson. Other training includes work at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Chicago Summer Opera, Stafford Opera Troupe, and study with repertoire coaches Patrick O\u2019Donnell and Joy Schreier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to her performing career, Catie is passionate about teaching. She offers private vocal lessons both in person and virtually, and has taught musical theater classes to school-aged students at Potomac Music in Lorton VA, and at the Verona Area Community Theater in Madison, WI. Catie\u2019s voice students consistently describe her as empathetic and deeply attuned to their individual needs, creating a warm and supportive environment where they feel truly heard. At the same time, her persistence and dedication to excellence push students to reach their fullest potential. Known for her extensive knowledge of vocal technique and performance, Catie is praised for her ability to balance kindness with high expectations, fostering both growth and confidence in every lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catie also co-owns the Chameleon Theater Collective, a D.C.-based theater production company. She has made significant impact as a stage director with her recent work, including a staged reading of the popular podcast musical 36 Questions<\/em> and a production of The Last Five Years<\/em> with the Chameleon Theater Collective (CTC). She is currently preparing to produce and perform in a staged reading of Muse: The Women of Picasso<\/em>, a new musical by Caitlin McKechney and Zainab Bari. In addition to her directorial accomplishments, Catie has performed in and produced the critically acclaimed Ordinary Days<\/em> by Adam Gwon as part of CTC, as well as three sold-out, themed comedic cabarets. Through her work with CTC, Catie continues to create opportunities and foster creative and highly collaborative environments for emerging DC-based artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other recent professional singing and acting credits include work as the the soprano section leader and soloist at Christ Lutheran Church in northern D.C, Lana in the original musical On National Road<\/em>, Phyllis in Iolanthe<\/em>, Pheobe in Romance Ship<\/em>, Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte<\/em>, Soprano section leader at Christ the King Anglican Church, and Music Director and Lead Singer at Sugar River United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
