Ms. Delfino\u2019s dream was to expand the opportunities available to children of immigrant families to study and excel in music. The Tapestry Music Project has grown through additional generous donations from our supporters, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pmangellfamfound.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul M. Angell Foundation<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/corinahigginsontrust.org\">Corina Higginson Trust<\/a> to provide an array of free music learning and listening experiences to students from immigrant and underserved communities in Silver Spring, Wheaton, and Takoma Park, Maryland.<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;10449&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;custom_link&#8221; img_link_target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; link=&#8221;https:\/\/pmangellfamfound.org\/&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13767&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;custom_link&#8221; img_link_target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; link=&#8221;http:\/\/corinahigginsontrust.org&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1586977296275{margin-top: -10px !important;}&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner gap=&#8221;35&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1588038744315{margin-top: -15px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Tapestry Music Project Impact<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Since the Tapestry Music Project was launched in Spring 2017, we have provided free music classes to over 791 children in six locations in Montgomery County, Maryland, through a partnership with the Montgomery Housing Partnership.<\/li>\n<li>We provide weekly early childhood music classes to 660 children ages 3-5 in five locations in Silver Spring and Takoma Park, Maryland.<\/li>\n<li>We have taught weekly violin, guitar, and ukulele classes to more than 131 third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students of Montgomery Housing Partnership&#8217;s Community Life GATOR Program at Arcola Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland. A violin, guitar, or ukulele is provided at no cost to each student in the classes.<\/li>\n<li>In the summer of 2017, we provided a free violin immersion experience\u2014a weeklong, full-day music camp\u2014to children ages 7-11, in partnership with CASA de Maryland.<\/li>\n<li>In December 2017, we presented a morning of concerts by the world-renowned Spanish Brass to 680 students, faculty, and parents at Arcola Elementary School.\u00a0 Amadi Azikiwe, a member of the Washington Conservatory Ensemble-in-Residence, Pressenda Chamber Players, performed several violin demonstrations and performances for students at Arcola Elementary School.\u00a0 In May 2023, we presented two &#8220;Cosmic Cycles&#8221; Concerts by the National Philharmonic Chamber Players to 500 students at Stedwick Elementary School.<\/li>\n<li>33 students have received scholarships for individual music lessons with artist-faculty members of the Washington Conservatory of Music at Conservatory teaching sites and through partnerships with Friendship Prep and Stedwick Elementary School.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1588038654386{margin-top: 5px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #eeeeee !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}&#8221;][icon_feature icon_position=&#8221;left&#8221; border=&#8221;no&#8221; icon=&#8221;hb-moon-quotes-left&#8221;]Washington Conservatory of Music has become one of our greatest partners.
